Breanna Stewart

RESUME: Played on four national championship teams at Connecticut. 1st overall pick in the 2016 WNBA draft by the Seattle Storm. 2016 WNBA Rookie of the Year.

WHY BE AN AMBASSADOR? I’ve been involved in Special Olympics since high school. In college I was an MC for several Special Olympics events. I enjoyed it and I wanted to keep being a part of it.

WHAT DID YOU GET OUT OF YOUR INVOLVEMENT WITH SPECIAL OLYMPICS? I enjoyed being around all the athletes and watching them compete. I still see some of them when I’m back visiting.

ADVICE FOR ATHLETES: Continue to work hard. Only the best of the best will get to the 2018 games so enjoy it. At the end of the day it’s always about having fun.

HOW WILL SEATTLE REACT TO HAVING THE 2018 GAMES HERE? I think it’s going to be unbelievable. Seattle is one of the best sports cities and they will embrace the athletes who compete here.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO IN SEATTLE ON A DAY OFF? I like to shop, so go downtown and go to Nordstrom. Go down by the water, take a hike, and make sure you go up in the Space Needle at night!
