RESUME: One of the winningest Hydroplane Drivers of all time. Won the sport’s Gold Cup 11 times. Youngest man ever to be inducted into the International Motor Sports Hall of Fame in 1995.

WHY BE AN AMBASSADOR? I graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Special Education and I’ve been involved with special needs people since so this was a natural fit for me.

ADVICE FOR COMPETING AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL? Competition is competition. We tend to get caught up with the awards and the superficial things that can come with sports. But competition and the best rewards that come from it are intrinsic and life affirming.

ON THE IMPACT OF THE GAMES IN SEATTLE: I think it’ll play well. I think people are going to be proud that it’s here and I think people are going to want to share so much of what Seattle is all about. I think the competitors, their families, and their friends are going to leave Seattle knowing they’ve been part of a great experience.

WHAT SEATTLE SPOT SHOULD PEOPLE VISIT? As an old boat guy I’d encourage everyone to get on a boat and get out on the water. Also…I’m a fourth generation Seattleite and every time I go to Mt. Rainier I’m awe inspired.
