RESUME: Middle and long-distance runner who was an eight time All American (in cross country and track) at the University of Washington. Currently runs for the Brooks Beast Club in Seattle.

WHY DID YOU WANT TO BE AN AMBASSADOR? Working with people in the community who have disabilities of any kind has been ingrained in my life. My sister is in a wheel chair and has had some developmental challenges to overcome. When I was asked it was easy to say yes.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU HAVE FOR THE COMPETITORS? They are already competing at the highest level in their sport and a lot of the veteran competitors have been on this kind of stage more than me…so I might be the one asking for tips. For athletes who are competing in the USA Games for the first time I would remind them that it’s OK to be nervous, it’s OK to be apprehensive. You’ve done the work. You’re at the highest level and you should really enjoy it. The USA Games represent so much more than just athletic achievement. It’s so much bigger than just the competition.

HOW DO YOU THINK THE GAMES WILL IMPACT SEATTLE? Seattle is such an open and accepting city that I think people will be really excited to host the athletes. We have so many people in Seattle who could be considered ‘disability activists’ who are working to make it easier for those with disabilities to engage in day to day life. Given the way Seattle is the games will start community engagement on how we can keep improving access and acceptance for all.

WHAT SHOULD ATHLETES SEE AND DO IN SEATTLE? I’m an outdoor person. My two favorite places to go are the beach Golden Gardens Park and Kerry Park in Queen Anne. There’s a beautiful view of the city from that park.
