WHY DID YOU WANT TO BE ON THE BOARD? My son Max is 19. He was born with Down Syndrome. I’ve been an ambassador for the World Games with Tim Shriver for seven years and it’s allowed me to feel that I have more to contribute than just being a cheerleader on the side. I wanted to put some of that experience to practical use.

WHAT SPORTS HAVE YOU PLAYED? I’m a surfer and a golfer. With three kids I’m also a competitive taxi driver.

WHAT DID YOU LEARN FROM SPORTS THAT YOU’VE APLIED TO YOUR CAREER? The number one thing is to grind and persevere. I think those things are assets. Everything I’ve done in my career involved having to do those two things and I learned that from sports.

WHAT WILL IT MEAN FOR SEATTLE TO HOST THE GAMES? The facilities in Seattle can’t be touched compared to other places we’ve been. The people put together on this board are crazy impressive and capable. They have a ‘can-do’ attitude and that’s going to lead to a stunning games.

WHAT SHOULD ATHLETES SEE AND DO WHILE THEY’RE IN SEATTLE? I’m a soccer fan and I’d love to do a March to the Match with Sounders FC fans. I’ve heard that’s the most fun thing on the planet. I’d go to Safeco Field and watch the Mariners. Get a comfortable pair of shoes on start walking.
